About The Island

North Captiva Island is off the coast of Ft. Myers in Southwest Florida. The Island can only be accessed by boat or small private plane who is a member of the Salty Dog Airstrip and has landing privileges. No gas vehicles are allowed, as the only mode of transportation on the island is by golf cart or foot. The island is populated by private homes, and the remaining 2/3 of the Island is undeveloped protected state land. Due to the remote nature of the Island, many forms of wildlife are present including several protected species. The beaches are white sand and feature some of the best shelling in the United States. North Captiva feels like your own private island where, on many occasions, you might be the only one on one of the finest stretches of beach in Florida. Come visit and see why Trip Advisor called North Captiva Island a “Top 10 Sunny Spot You Haven’t Considered.”
